While the American Legion owns the property, we are ecstatic to have the opportunity to host our summer camps in this incredible location. YMCA Camp West Mar gives campers an amazing opportunity to both experience the rugged beauty of the Catoctin Mountains and have the exciting camp experience we all dreamed of as kids. Campers will have daily outdoor adventures and engage with each other in events like archery, canoeing, hiking, ropes course, and team challenges, and still have time to enjoy our sparkling swimming pool! YMCA CAMP WEST MAR What better place is there to camp than the wonderful Catoctin Mountains? Our campers will experience the great outdoors while learning and practicing new skills like archery and canoeing, building relationships, and having a blast. We will be providing snacks at no additional cost, along with an adventure packed day! All registrations include a $5 Trading Post Voucher (issued on Monday of the registered week). The Trading Post is our camp store at Camp West Mar and it has everything from snacks and drinks to camp swag like sunglasses, hoodies, and t-shirts. We also keep a small number of lunchables on hand for campers who may forget their lunches or just need a little extra nourishment. The campers will have an opportunity to visit daily during lunch or transition times, timing varies by group and daily schedule, to take a break and hang out with other campers. Camp EX is your one stop shop for a fun mix of camp activities! With weekly themes, campers will participate in a wide variety of traditional camp experiences including songs, games, crafts, sports, science, a trip to the pool and more! Camp EX may also take walking field trips. Cooking Ages 8-12 $230/$290 Campers will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about cooking and food preparation. Weekly themes will allow exploration of a variety of foods and cultures as well as etiquette, knife skills, and nutrition. This camp operates out of the Y’s Teaching Kitchen at the South County Family Y. Cooking For Teens Ages 12-16 $230/$290 Let’s take cooking to the next level! Weekly themes will allow exploration of a variety of foods and cultures as well as etiquette, knife skills, nutrition, and advanced culinary techniques will be explored. This camp operates out of the Y’s Teaching Kitchen at the South County Family Y. Happy Trails Ages 6-12 $210/$270 Campers will hike on the Y’s property in Ijamsville and surrounding areas. They will use their senses and skills while investigating nature’s treasures found all around them in the forests, creeks. They will create arts and crafts, participate in small experiments and studies of the local ecosystem, and practice orienteering skills. Imagination Station Ages 6-12 $210/ $270 This creative arts camp is geared for imaginative campers who will construct projects and participate in hands-on activities centered on a new theme each day. Campers also enjoy trips to the new swimming pool and participate in outdoor recreational activities. Preschool Adventure Ages 4-5 $290/$330 Preschool Adventure will take place at the Y Arts Center. A great first full-day camping experience for the younger camper. Campers will experience a full day of fun centered on weekly themes. Activities include arts and crafts, story time, outdoor adventures, and water play. Children must be potty trained to attend. Additional registration forms are required for this camp. Science Surrounds Us Ages 8-14 $230/$290 This camp promises to make Science fun! Science camp will use guided discovery to help kids understand the science that “surrounds” us each and every day! Campers will participate in various STEAM activities and conduct experiments throughout the week. Space Odyssey Ages 6-12 $230/$290 A summer camp experience with games, crafts, and activities centered on a space theme. Campers will experience a number of STEM activities such as making moon sand, creating a mock drone, studying about different aerospace planes, delving into what it is like on the space station, and learning about our universe with a focus on our own spectacular planet - Earth. Sports Unlimited Ages 6-12 $210/$270 So many sports, so little time! A wide variety of sports will be played. Exposure to the arts helps campers to develop progressive skills that allow us all to connect with and understand other people and express our ideas, while providing a unique entertainment experience. ArtXperience Ages 6-14 $290/$370 Sing, act, dance, and explore the performing arts all in one week! Theatricks Circus Experience Ages 8-14 $290/$370 Your camper will learn new skills like juggling, stilt walking, clowning and more! End of camp performance will be recorded and a link sent to parents. Dance Exploration Ages 6-12 $230/$290 Dance Exploration provides the opportunity to learn a variety of dance styles while discovering history, vocabulary, and performance knowledge. End of camp performance will be recorded and a link sent to parents. Musical Theater Ages 8-14 $230/$290 Theatre Camp is an excellent adventure in drama, dance, and musicality. Each week a new musical is produced to create a unique camp experience for all. Cheerleading Ages 6-15 $230 / $290 Stunt, Jump, Cheer, Dance, and Tumble your way through cheer camp. Campers will build self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork while learning basic cheer skills. DodgeBall Ages 10-16 $210/$270 Duck, Dive, and Dodge your way into this fun camp that plays a wide variety of dodge ball games as well as outdoor throwing and agility events. Flag Football Ages 8-14 $210/$270 Campers are introduced to basic skills and concepts of the game including running, catching, and throwing. They will also learn to execute plays while participating in an actual game setting. Flip, Twist, Turn Ages 7-16 $230 / $290 Gymnasts of all abilities will enjoy learning and improving their skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor exercise. Golf Ages 8-14 $230/$290 Campers will learn basic golf skills in a fun camp where they will experience putting, driving, rules, etiquette, and safety using the First Tee curriculum. Pickleball and Net Sports Ages 8-14 $210/$270 We will be learning and playing a variety of net sports including Pickleball. Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis which is becoming wildly popular! Pickleball boosts your mood, overall mental health, and works on your balance, coordination, and agility. Soccer Ages 6-12 $210/$270 This camp is a Kick! It’s great for beginners and the soccer enthusiast looking to improve their foot skills, agility, and positioning. Campers will experience individualized player development within a team setting. Sports Unlimited Ages 6-12 $210/$270 So many sports — so little time. A wide variety of sports will be played where each day is a different sport experience. Fitness, teamwork and fun are emphasized. Campers will participate in indoor and outdoor sports throughout the week. Trick Shot Ages 6-14 $210/$270 Cap it! Nothing but net! X-games. We have it all in our newest camp called Trick Shot! Based on the latest Youtube hit wtih the “Dude Perfect” team, campers will be creating their very own trick shots! They will design, create, and build a variety of amazing trick shot courses that can include Rube Goldberg machines, various sports equipment, and the natural environment to complete the trickiest of shots. We expect to hear a lot of “OH wow!”, “How’d she do that?!”, and “Amazing’s”, coming from this camp. Volleyball Ages 8-14 $210/$270 Bump, set, spike! Campers will improve basic volleyball skills through drills, games, and tournaments. Additional focus areas include teamwork & sportsmanship. SPORTS A comprehensive schedule is offered to introduce campers to a wide variety of sports while having fun and meeting new friends! The schedule provides the opportunity to participate in a different sport each week. Our Sports Unlimited Camp will allow your child to experience many different sports within one week.Next >
