Summer themes change weekly with representation from every genre you can think of-science, art, adventure, imagination, sports, games, and more! Summer Fun camp and Kids Unlimited accept vouchers from the Child Care Scholarship Program (formerly CCS & POC). Vouchers may not be used for all other camps that are not licensed through the Maryland State Department of Education. For more information about the MSDE Child Care Scholarship Program, please contact Child Care Central 2 at 1-877-227-0125.6 | 2022 SUMMER CAMP GUIDE CAMP WEST MAR The YMCA of Frederick County operates beautiful Camp West Mar, a 72 acre Overnight and Day Camp in the foothills of the stunning Catoctin Mountains. While the American Legion owns the property, we are ecstatic to have the opportunity to host our summer camps in this incredible location. YMCA Camp West Mar gives campers an amazing opportunity to both experience the rugged beauty of the Catoctin Mountains and has the exciting camp experience we all dreamed of as kids. Campers will have daily outdoor adventures and engage with each other in events like archery, canoeing, hiking, ropes course, and team challenges, and still have time to enjoy our sparkling swimming pool! What better place is there to camp than the wonderful Catoctin Mountains? TRADING POST All registrations include a $5 Trading Post Voucher (issued on Monday of the registered week). The Trading Post is our camp store at Camp West Mar and it has everything from snacks and drinks to camp swag like sunglasses, hoodies, and t-shirts. The Y’s arts and humanities programs help participants experience activities that foster self-expression and build self-esteem, develop imagination, critical thinking and valuable social skills. Exposure to the arts helps campers to develop progressive skills that allow us all to connect with and understand other people and express our ideas, while providing a unique entertainment experience. COMIC BOOK CREATIONS AND CLAYMATION ART CAMP Ages 8-14 $300/$380 Kids will create their own comic book stories and characters and then turn them into short animated Claymation videos! Students will create their own miniature stage sets for their clay characters to be filmed in. In addition, classic cartoons and Claymation shows will be shown to provide ideas and inspiration for their own creations! DANCE EXPLORATION Ages 6-12 $240/$300 Dance Exploration provides the opportunity to learn a variety of dance styles while discovering history, vocabulary, and performance knowledge. End of camp performance will be recorded and a link sent to parents. IMAGINATION STATION Ages 6-12 $220/$280 (Must have attended Kindergarten) This creative arts based camp is geared for campers who will construct projects and participate in imaginative activities centered on themes. Campers may take walking field trips. MUSICAL THEATER Ages 8-14 $240/$300 Theatre Camp is an excellent adventure in drama, dance, and musicality. Each week a new musical is produced to create a unique camp experience for all. End of camp performance will be recorded and a link sent to parents.
